Innovator V5.12
Review notes & sources

Updated 19 October 2026. A reviewable reconstruction using the approved Innovator V5 direction.

Third-person copy, biography & icons

The biography now follows the four headings supplied in chat: Culinary roots; Science beyond the plate; Research into practice; On stage & screen. It includes the collaboration with Professor Charles Spence, 36+ academic papers, 500+ events across 15 countries, and the 2014 founding year confirmed in chat. A direct link scrolls to Research and a nested dropdown presents the two books with separate descriptions. The updated figures and biographical wording were supplied by Jozef.

The added line icons are retained only in Ideas & Perspectives, as requested. They supplement the featured perspective and category labels. The established hexagonal branding and section geometry remain. The keynote description uses the wording supplied in chat.

The third-person copy audit covers the main page and both review pages. Biography opening and closure, article deep links, category filtering and workshop disclosures were checked. Desktop, tablet and mobile widths of 1440, 800, 390 and 320 px were checked without horizontal overflow.

For V5.12, checks confirmed that all six added line icons are inside Ideas & Perspectives and none appear elsewhere. The four biography headings, both full book titles, the books dropdown and its keyboard closure, and the Research anchor were checked. Desktop at 1440 px and mobile at 390 and 320 px fit without horizontal overflow.

Decisions for this review

  1. Review the larger photographs and their desktop and mobile crops. The workshop-table image and red digital-dining photograph now span their sections. The hero, About and Media & Talks photographs are also larger; the featured AI illustration retains its previous dimensions.
  2. Approve the five adapted readings as an accurate expression of your views. Each has an editorial keyline and a direct link to the original LinkedIn post.

Speaking & workshops revision

The supplied photograph Chef Jozef - Richard Boll2.jpg remains in About. The opening image is now _IM64054.jpg, selected in chat, showing Jozef working at a kitchen counter with a tablet. It retains its original colour. The supplied TEDx stage photograph is used in Media & Talks. The Speaking & Workshops section uses the workshop-table photograph IMG_0966.JPG and presents keynotes, experiential talks, workshops, suggested themes and an email enquiry link. The speaking introduction uses the wording supplied in chat. Areas of expertise now cover multisensory and experience design; AI, creativity and hospitality; entrepreneurship & multidisciplinary collaboration; and flavour and culinary practice. About and Product & brand innovation now mention work with product manufacturers and supermarkets and their new product development (NPD), innovation and marketing teams, as supplied in chat. Durations, fees and new testimonials have not been added.

Editorial voice: third person throughout the site’s own copy, including About, all five perspectives, Social Media and the contact heading. The perspective keylines are editorial summaries, presented without quotation marks. Original LinkedIn posts remain linked.

What was recovered

All 36 photograph previews in Box folder 410459123116 were retrieved and visually inspected. Twelve real photographs were shortlisted. The recovered Box photographs use compressed previews. The writing-at-desk, digital-dining, Four Tastes and TEDx images were supplied separately in chat. The TEDx original has been optimised for the website while retaining its colour.

The current biography came from Chef Jozef Youssef bio 2026.docx. The biography uses the 36+ academic-paper count supplied by Jozef in chat. The Research section remains a selection of three verified publications with a link to the complete ResearchGate profile. The substantive biography and both book titles are included.

Original LinkedIn sources

The website contains editorial adaptations, not a live LinkedIn feed. Relative publication dates were omitted because they vary in cached views.

Signature motion and sensory experiment

The portrait hexagon draws once when first seen. Small static hexagons echo that geometry at section labels. Photographs reveal once, links respond on hover and focus, and native details animate open and closed. Reduced-motion preferences retain immediate, static access to all content.

The optional sensory experiment in Ideas & Perspectives uses the supplied Four Tastes photograph. Visitors choose a taste for each colour before seeing a comparison with the research. Choices remain in memory within the page and can be changed or reset. No right/wrong score is displayed.

Source: Velasco, Barbosa Escobar, Spence and Olier (2023), The taste of colours. Green/sour and red/sweet are supported by Experiment 2. Dark/bitter and white/salty are identified as earlier findings reviewed by the paper; the new tasks revealed more varied patterns. The photograph was not a stimulus in that study. Its authors are credited without attributing authorship to Jozef.

BBC programme addition

The supplied MasterChef: Episode 20 programme page is included in Media & Talks, bringing the complete selection to 16 links. The BBC entry is labelled View programme and opens the exact supplied BBC Food page.

Speaker video

A public speaker video link, supplied in chat, appears alongside the Speaking & Workshops introduction.

Social Media

The Social Media section sits between Media & Talks and Contact, with Instagram and LinkedIn profile links. It uses Instagram’s profile embed for @jozef_youssef, as supplied in chat. The live embed was verified displaying six recent posts. A direct profile link remains available alongside the embed.

The accent remains brick red #AD3832. Coral variants were removed. Labels on dark backgrounds use warm white for readability, while decorative red accents retain the brick red. Em dashes were removed from the site’s own copy and review pages.

Image placements and research ordering

The supplied black-and-white digital-dining illustration is used for the featured AI & Hospitality perspective. The supplied red digital-dining photograph is used in Innovations. The workshop-table photograph IMG_0966.JPG is used in Speaking & Workshops, as confirmed in chat. The original speaking portrait was removed from that placement.

The three selected papers default to citation order: Colour–taste correspondences (129), Gastromotive dining (22), Reconsidering the microwave (0). These are the counts exposed by the public ResearchGate pages retrieved on 18 October 2026; cached pages may lag current activity. Per-paper read counts were not publicly available, so reads are not used or presented as zero. Newest and oldest sorting are also available.

Research and media

Three selected publications link to their verified ResearchGate entries, with a link to the complete profile. The previous Box video archive has been replaced with all 15 public video links supplied in chat: 13 on YouTube, plus DW and The Guardian. Google redirect links and YouTube tracking parameters were removed. Official YouTube oEmbed responses supplied titles and channel names; the DW and Guardian titles were checked against their publisher pages. Shorter display titles are used where appropriate. Metadata and page retrieval confirm destinations, rather than playback in every country. The TEDx photograph links to the supplied TEDxLSE video. Three featured links and a full expandable list keep the section compact.

What remains before launch

The original jozef_onepage_v5/index.html and jozef_onepage_v5.zip could not be recovered from the accessible prior conversation attachments, local Documents/Downloads searches or an exact Box ZIP/HTML search. This version reconstructs the approved style and flow; it does not claim to preserve the original source byte for byte.

The previous complete searchable bibliography and embedded public showreel have not been restored. This preview provides selected verified papers and the supplied public videos. Restore the full bibliography before replacing the live website.

After the imagery is approved, retrieve the original masters, finalise responsive crops and photographer credits. Then remove the preview labels and editorial-approval notes, and complete the domain launch.

Adding future writing

Keep this as a curated selection of your ongoing writing. Add each approved original post URL, summary, excerpt and adaptation to ideas.json, then run node build-ideas.mjs. Existing topics are Sensory design, AI & hospitality, Food futures and Creativity. The generated page also works when opened directly from the ZIP.

V5.8 image and copy checks

The restored monochrome opening photograph and supplied TEDx image were visually checked on desktop and mobile. The revised expertise list wraps within 390 px and 320 px layouts. The requested speaking introduction and the manufacturer, supermarket and NPD copy were confirmed in the page. Local images, files and section links were checked.

V5.10 media revision

The section and navigation are labelled Media & Talks. All 15 supplied destinations are included, with no Box or Google redirect URLs in the media section. The TEDx image and three featured links give direct access; an expandable list contains the complete selection. The list was checked on desktop and at 390 px and 320 px widths without horizontal overflow. Opening, closing and keyboard access with Space were exercised.

Checks completed

Desktop at 1440 px and mobile at 390 px; narrow layout at 320 px with no horizontal overflow. Topic filtering, in-page readings, featured-article linking and mobile navigation were exercised in the browser. Local files and anchors were checked. The sensory experiment was exercised on desktop and mobile, including keyboard choice, numbered spoon navigation, repeated and alternative taste choices, result comparison, explanation, reset and closure. The article filters and one-open reading behaviour were checked with the new disclosure animation. Widths of 320, 390, 800 and 1440 px were checked without horizontal overflow. No errors from the website’s own scripts were observed. Instagram’s embedded profile emitted a non-fatal internal routing log while continuing to display its feed.
